Why Windows is better than Mac OS?

Windows supports more software. Windows PCs cost less and are infinitely customizable and repairable because they don’t rely on any proprietary components. Software and hardware manufacturers focus on Windows because Windows represents the vast majority of the PC market share, meaning a Windows user will always have access to the latest and greatest ahead of a Mac user.

The Introduction

Windows

Windows 10 is a series of operating systems developed by Microsoft and released as part of its Windows NT family of operating systems.

Mac OS

Mac stands for Macintosh. The family of Macintosh operating systems is developed by Apple Inc. It includes the graphical user interface-based operating systems it has designed for use with its Macintosh series of personal computers since 1984, as well as the related system software it once created for compatible third-party systems.

The Difference between Mac OS and Windows

  • Help: If you need some help, finding a Windows expert usually takes minutes. So you always have completely free, instant, high-quality tech support. If you need a MacOS expert, let the force be with you - it may take an indefinite amount of time, or you’ll have to resort to some paid service.
  • Software: Only a tiny fraction of software applications available for Windows exists for MacOS. Many software developers/vendors don’t bother creating a Mac OS version at all, because of the small user base.
  • There is one advantage of Mac OS here: for the same reason, nobody cares to create malware for it. We will learn about this in detail later in this article,
  • Hardware: Windows runs on virtually everything. Your PC, your hardware choice. No problem with the component replacement. No problem with hardware upgrades. Repair it yourself - not a problem for a lot of people, and there is always one at hand. A Windows PC can be repaired at the retail price of the failed component.
  • None of the above is even remotely possible for MacOS.
  • Freedom: Windows is widely opened for configurations and customizations. You can make it look, feel, and work your way, not vice-versa with Mac OS.
  • Price: The price-performance ratio of Windows PC’s is much better than that of Mac OS-based Apple Computers.
  • Software-Hardware Compatibility: At this point, Mac OS is pretty much ahead of Windows-based PCs. Apple made its hardware and software. So, the compatibility of their system becomes much higher than Windows-based PCs.
  • Virus and Malware: No OS is compromise-proof. The reason Mac, and Linux for that matter, have the reputation of being virus-proof is because those two platforms represent such a small percentage of overall users.
  • Why would someone write a virus for something that can infect 12% of all machines when you can write one for 83%? Viruses exist for Mac and Linux, but they are just far less abundant.
  • System Crash: All operating systems crash. Windows ME had some stability issues, but 20 years later, if my Windows PC crashes my immediate guess is a hard disk or RAM issue as, if the OS is not infected, it’s almost certainly a hardware fault, not a Windows problem. Mac OS systems are very optimized. So, software crashes due to hardware failure issues became very less.

The Best OS

  • Linux: best OS for gearheads that know how to code for specific operations or server building. Pretty hostile to everyone else despite great efforts from folks like Ubuntu.
  • Mac OS: still the primary OS of choice for music and video editing, remains a solid platform for creative arts although Windows has narrowed much of the gap in this dept. Also the mandatory platform for those looking to code for IOS devices. The best choice of desktop for your grandma, although she might prefer the iPad.
  • Windows: The platform of choice for personal computer gaming and no surprise! While Office is available for the Mac and there are free equivalents for all three platforms, Windows is still the powerful platform for the suite. Also, it has options that are not available in the Mac version.

The End Notes
