Why everyone is switching from WhatsApp to Signal Messenger?

'Signal' is on fire. Everyone is switching from Whatsapp to Signal. But why so? The reason is clear, the updated privacy policy and terms released by Whatsapp. But is this transformation from Whatsapp first to Signal first is logical? Is signal more safe and secure than Whatsapp? I'll try to make this confusion clear from today's article.

Why everyone is switching from WhatsApp to Signal Messenger?

If you haven't read my article about the Risk associated with Whatsapp's new privacy policy, you may read it by clicking here.

The Overview

Signal uses end-to-end encryption, one of the best options for privacy when it comes to messaging. It is not a subsidiary of some large corporation, and it has not had any scandals about data leaks. Privacy experts suggest it quite strongly.

WhatsApp is owned by Facebook(which is, honestly, all you need to know about its attitude toward privacy). It also supposedly uses end-to-end encryption, but it decrypts backed up files. And the app backs up pretty much everything. So your data is there for WhatsApp to use and sell however they like.

If you want secure messaging, try Signal, Wire, or Telegram. WhatsApp is not to be trusted.

Why Signal is more Secure?

Security experts recommend Signal App for a few different reasons. "Signal" is end-to-end encrypted, meaning that no one but your device and conversational partner’s device can read the messages you send.

  • The team behind the software designing and development is privacy-centered. It is a non-profit organization that is funded by grants and donations.
  • Perhaps most importantly, 'Signal' is open-source, meaning that the code is publicly viewable.
  • It can be examined for potential security holes and has stood up to auditing.
  • 'Signal' contains no ads, which means the platform has no ad delivery network software. The absence of ads is great as an experience benefit.

Why people are switching to Signal?

Signal has been telling us that all our information will be encrypted and be safe. Many people are searching for an alternative to WhatsApp due to its new privacy policies in which there is no privacy.

There is a discussion going on which should be used telegram or signal. Telegram is more popular. But which app is popular doesn't matter as long as our information is in safe hands.

'Signal' is not as polished as the other messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, etc. Telegram has a great number of good reviews on the play store, so it could be a replacement for WhatsApp but soon Telegram is going to be paid. That is why people are trusting Signal.

Some Facts about Signal Messaging App

'Signal Messenger' is developed by the Signal Foundation and “Signal Messenger LLC”. The core personalities here are Moxie Marlinspike (real name Matthew Rosenfeld) and Brian Acton(co-founder of WhatsApp), the two founders and the de-facto faces of the whole project.

'Signal' comes from developers with a very strong reputation and the code is open source so it can be audited by anyone.
