How many Universe

There are quite a few hypotheses that end up with more than one universe. Let’s consider those stemming from the ‘Many worlds’ interpretation of Quantum Physics. This theory postulates that the universe splits into two when there are two equally possible outcomes to a superposition of states.

As every particle in the universe is either in superposition or interacting we can reliably assume that the approximately 10^90 particles in the universe are in superposition at least once every second and possibly as frequently as once every chronon (6.27×10^24 per second) or once every Planck time (5.59x10^44 per second).

But let’s take an extremely conservative number, one superposition in the entire universe per second, and thus one second later the number of universes has doubled. Let’s zero the clock now and start with one universe (ignoring all others). After one second we have two universes. After two seconds each universe has spawned another making four in total.

After one minute we have 10^18 universes and after five minutes we’re up to 10^90 universes. My calculator only goes up to ten to the power of 100 so I can’t even go to six minutes. The universe is around 4*10^17 seconds old. We’re over 10^100 after six minutes or 360 seconds.

And that is the most conservative version of the model. If the 10^90 atoms in the universe all have a superposed state per second, for instance, the locations of the electron/s or the wave nature of the atom itself (that may collapse into one of several states) then the number is far higher.

So, where does all the extra mass for all those universes come from? We don’t have to worry about that, it just magically appears.

But wait! There’s more!!

The current theory postulates that there is a separate universe for every quantum of time. There are 6.27×10^24 per second if we go by the chronon (for electrons) or 5.59x10^44 per second for Planck time. That means that there are between 2.5*10^42 and 2.2*10^62 universes just from the age of the universe alone. Each of those will have generated 10^90 universes after 5 minutes each of which will have generated a universe for each quantum of time.

At this time, when everything is multiplied together, we need indices for the indices to express that number of Universes. And that is just two kinds of multiple universe theory together.

Can the Sigma scale have a negative value? If so, that would be an appropriate score for this theory. But let’s just say that a human God, Leprechauns, Superstrings, and Multiple Universe theory all have about the same plausibility nicely corresponding with the evidence for each of those theories, that is, none.
