Why some people feel more cold than others?

Hi. It's November, and the cold breeze is about to start.

I feel colder than others. And this question strikes my mind, why such happens? So, in this article, we'll try to find the answer to this question. Let us go deeper.

The Quick Research

As soon as I started my research for this question, I got this answer from Marcus Lopes stating...

The more fat you have the warmer you are, the less the colder you will be in lower temperature. Having a slow metabolism means having poor blood circulation which in turn means your body is more likely to be cold. Some people just have built up a tolerance against the cold, without even trying. Your body might not be producing enough of certain hormones due to disorders such as hyperthyroidism. These hormones regulate your body functions such as metabolism, energy levels, and body temperature.

To find a better and more logical answer with reasons, I tried to go a bit deeper. I started researching with the fact that why we feel cold?

Why we feel cold?

The perception of cold begins when nerves in the skin send impulses to the brain about skin temperature. The burst of nerve impulses generated by falling skin temperature provides early warning of an event likely to cause body temperature to fall.

Why some people feel more cold than others?

Impulses from the skin generate information about how cold we feel. Nervous impulses sent to muscles generate extra metabolic heat through shivering. Blood vessels that would otherwise transport warm blood from the internal organs to the cold skin, constrict, constraining most blood, and its heat, to internal organs. Feeling cold is not the same as being cold.

A study of twins found that the prevalence of feeling of cold hands and feet is highly heritable. Some of us also may feel cold simply because of how others close to us look. In one study, healthy volunteers felt colder if they were shown videos of actors pretending to be cold than if the actors pretended to be warm. Unlike Darwin's Fuegians, we have habituated ourselves to feeling comfortably warm.

Well, feeling cold is all about perception and presevation.

Perception to feel warmer than others and preserving our body from fever. That's all in this article. I hope you liked it. If yes, do share this with your friends. Have a good one. Cheers!
