How Facebook, Instagram are scrapping youngsters?

Warning for all the parents because what your children are doing may not be what you're expecting them to do. 

In this note, I am going to share how Instagram is killing the mentality of the young generation, the future. This article may be mean for Instagram users and that's exactly what I want it to be. Let us go deeper.

How Facebook, Instagram are scrapping youngsters?

Instagram's focus on photo-sharing and appearance makes the platform particularly unsuitable for children who are in crucial stages of developing their sense of self.

The Problem

Kids are already online, for attending classes. But is that what they are doing all day?

They want to connect with their family and friends, have fun and learn which is fine. But still, is it that what they are doing all day?

No. The problem is no one can exactly say what their kids are doing online. And that's the problem.

Children and teens (especially young girls) have learned to compare overly sexualized, highly edited photos of themselves with more attention on the platform, and popularity among their peers.

That's not their mistake, that's the business model of Instagram. The posts with higher user retention will get more natural boosts and thus getting more likes and popularity. And the truth is we all are somewhat crazy for this kind of stuff. If not all, I am, that's the truth. If it is seen, it sells.

What can we do to prevent this?

Make a contract guys. Yes. Surprised?

Meg Benningfield, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences director in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center says "I encourage parents to use smartphone contracts. Sit down, and before kids have access to devices, really talk about the rules and what they’re going to be".

And when I am saying Facebook: it's Whatsapp, Instagram, Messenger, and all. Children need to be more productive, connected to nature, and innovative.
